Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Aluminum foil or parchment paper
  • Wire rack recommended for extra crispiness
  • Sharp knife
  • Toothpicks optional, depending on bacon thickness
  • Paper towels

Ingredients

  • 1 box buttery round crackers such as Club crackers
  • 1 pound bacon cut into thirds
  • 1 cup brown sugar optional, for a sweet and salty version
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika or chili powder optional

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top if you have one.
  • Arrange the crackers on a flat surface. Place one cracker at the end of each bacon strip.
  • Roll the bacon tightly around the cracker. Secure with a toothpick if needed.
  • If using brown sugar, roll each bacon-wrapped cracker in the sugar until lightly coated.
  • Place each wrapped cracker seam-side down on the rack or baking sheet.
  • Sprinkle with black pepper, garlic powder, and any optional spices.
  • Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, flipping halfway if not using a rack, until bacon is fully cooked and crispy.
  • Transfer to paper towels to drain excess grease before serving.

Notes

Tips for Making the Best Bacon Crackers

Use thin-cut bacon for best results. Thick-cut bacon takes longer to cook and may leave the crackers soggy. A wire rack allows grease to drip away, which helps everything crisp evenly. If your bacon is very salty, skip additional salt in the seasoning. For even browning, rotate the pan halfway through baking. Let them rest for a few minutes after baking so the bacon firms up before serving.

Variations and Substitutions

For a spicy version, add cayenne pepper or crushed red pepper flakes. For a cheesy twist, sprinkle grated parmesan over the crackers during the last five minutes of baking. Maple sugar or a drizzle of hot honey adds a sweet finish. Gluten-free crackers work well for dietary needs. Turkey bacon can be used, but keep in mind it cooks faster and may not get as crispy.
